I have finished the really enjoyable Jasper Fforde books (The Eyre Affair, Lost in a good book, the Well of lost plots and the other one which title escapes me atm) about 2 weeks ago and just finished Following the Lost God Home by Catherine Lim (M'sian writer living in Spore) which was not bad although abit sad at the end. The book is abt a girl trapped in the materialistic and totalarian Spore society, all that is expected off her by her wealthy fiance, her fragmented relationship with her own family and all that she struggle to achieve abit of happiness for herself, falling in love with a white man, and trying to help her old senile nanny find her god figurine his true home before she dies. Weird yet I could relate so much to the characters in the book.
Atm, am reading a book by a Japanese author entitled "8 million Gods and Demons" which follows 3 generations of this family starting from the Meiji period till modern day Japan. I was so engrossed that it was 1.30am b4 I put the book down, already half way through the thick book. And in dreamland, I dreamt of colourful kimonos and beautiful plum trees.
