Cakes and party
Apr. 2nd, 2006 10:54 amIt was Ken's housewarming party yesterday which was a nice get together. He and Jenny fed us well with pizzas and chilli which was yummy along with other nibblets. :) We did grocery shopping in the morn and then to town for a bit- went to library to get some books out but most of the books I wanted were taken out by someone else. Oh well, I can wait!
Thought I would do some baking to contribute since we didn't do the cinema this weekend. Took longer than expected coz the 1st sponge recipe was a flop (boo hiss!) so had to make another 2 sponge cakes from another recipe, so that was abit of setback since I had to try to cool down cakes really fast by taking them to the lil' bedroom window sill and opening the windows and hope there is some cool breeze blowing this way. Heh, then it RAINED heavily, so needed to shut the window soon after. Iced the cake with sweetened whipped cream and then pack into big tupperwares and got dressed and put some face paint on and we headed off to Ken's abit later than planned. Made 2 sorts of cakes- chocolate chiffon cake which turned out brilliantly and sponge cake with mango and cream sandwich in the middle. OK, so I didn't have enough time to ice it properly, it was more of slap the cream on untidily and run. >_< I think
agent_snow would have been handy to have around at this point! *laughs*
We went to Heavygate Pub after 10.30pm and had a drink b4 heading home.
For some who may have missed last nite's party, Claire and co will be at the Riverside Pub for Sunday lunch from 12.30pm if you would like to toddle along to have fab roast dins.
Anyhow, mum's online, so better pay her abit of attention! ;)
