Yesterday I went hedge laying with Edy after lunchtime. I was gonna go to town for browsing and the likes, but got a better offer to learn something new! :)
I learnt that sawing left handed is difficult, hacking strips of barks with left hand is also twice as hard with a blunt and heavy er thing but also feels nice to destructive in a constructive way. But seeing and doing some of the hedge laying was good since I know now how to do it should I want to implement the technique to my allotment which seems to sprout back weeds on my nice veggie patches with all the rain.
And black hawthorne is very evil and perfect to discourage trouble makers at allotment and I think even at home. The thorns were LONG and evil. I got one somehow embedded under the wedding ring. :(
So if any of you are thinking of ordering some hawthorns etc, I am in! :)
Oh then we went to Crystal Peaks to look at some shops. And no, we didn't buy anything. :D
Made dinner after Friends- carbonara with salami and then watched CSI with Paul before heading to bed.

Date: 2006-11-14 01:37 pm (UTC)All you need now is the time to lay your allotment hedge while
a) the hedge is dormant,
b) there's nothing to nick on site (the horizonal hedge will be easier to climb over than the vertical one, until the new growth comes in the spring).
Steve C is getting me a bill so you can borrow that, or I have a couple of small hand axes which would do the same job.
