Jan. 17th, 2005 08:16 pmBeen brilliant having my friend Shu Yin around. She arrived on Sat at around 11.15am and it was like YAYYYYY! More hugs, more chatter and laughing. Edy took us to Castleton in the afternoon and we went for a short walk there but it was hard going due to the wet ground. BUT it was beaaaaaaautiful! We were laughing so much and am so glad that Edy and Shu Yin got on so well together. I need to get my old walking shoes "re-soled" (is this the word??) so I can actually clamber over the rocky path. LOVE the small ramble. We tried to go and see the Blue John Cavern and we checked the last tour on the website which said it was 4.20pm. We got there at 3.30pm and the last tour was at 3.20pm. BUMMER. Never mind! The pick me up at The Castle pub was good. Drinks and some light food was such a civilised way to end the day. :) We took a few piccies (with her swanky digital camera) and we will download the pics onto my pooter when she gets back on Thurs then will upload link here to see piccies. Oh and maybe some of u may find this conversation funny- we were talking abt meaning of names (me and Shu Yin have chinese names) so we were explaining the meaning of our names to Edy.
(after name explanation, shu yin decided to share a funny story regarding names)
Shu Yin: A colleague of mine went to HK on business and whilst there, one of the consultants introduced himself "Hi, my name is JUNGLE Wong". (at this point, we all were laughing)My colleague was trying so hard not to laugh and bit her tongue. Then another consultant came over and introuduced herself as "Cinderella something". At this point, Mr Jungle Wong pointedly said, "What kind of a name is Cinderella?????!" (at this point, we were all guffawing so hard in the car!). TALK abt POT calling the Kettle black!! And no, this is no joke or pulling of leg!
Me and Edy: Hahahahahahahhaha! NO WAY!
Shu Yin: erm, I have also met a guy who calls himself "Heaven" as his 1st name. And his surname was Lee. So he was so pleased to say he was "Heaven-Lee". And erm, I have heard a girl introduced herself as Internet!!! (more guffaws)
Sunday- we went to Meadowhall and we did mega shopping. The last of the sales at DP was pretty good with the buy one get one free on most of the sales item. Had such great time! Lemme tell you, I have not laughed so much for so long. She has such a sunny disposition and a wicked sense of humour. Helped her pack her suitcase with her new purchases. Oh and we had a huge pizza hut feast. *BURPS*
Monday- Went to town and wandered around. Took her to a pub lunch and then took her to the train station to catch her train to Leeds as she is flying to Dublin today to visit another old friend of ours, Prem. House is so quiet at the moment.
She will be back on Thursday and that will be our last day together as she is off to London on Friday morn for a day and then off home from Heathrow on Sat. Am gonna miss her. She will be off to Melbourne to work in April, so won't be able to catch her when I go home next. We have been friends since primary school and I hope we will be friends for the rest of our lives. SHe has made us promised to visit her in Melbourne when we get the chance. Coolie! :)
