Yesterday after I went off the internet and just abt to head out, I heard some water gushing noise out one of the pipes at the back of house. Alot of water! Puddles in the backyard! (no, it isn't rain!)

Er...... central heating pipes? Or......... that cistern was continuing to fill up the water and water was gushing out the overflow outlet. *lift up the cistern cover*

"Paaaaaaaaaauuuuuul!! Errrr, I think something in the cistern is broken, I can't seem to stop the water from continuing to fill it" (very alarmed here)

Paul comes down, took over and went "ahhhhh, NOT good!" Tinkers abit..... "Er, babe, I think u need to turn off the mains coz it isn't stopping even when ball valve is level or doing whatever we were doing to logically stop it the water," I said. He went and tried to turn off main but it was mighty difficult, kinda stucked, refusing to budge an inch.... after awhile and multiple flushes later, the main supply is finally off!

After some phone calls and some advice and with Super [livejournal.com profile] _edy coming around with her magic box of tools, the ball valve dooduh was disconnected and we think we found the problem- cistern washer well, what was the cistern washer is now something with a big hole in the middle and rather thin and pathetic looking. Uh huh, we all said! As it was Sunday and late to boot, we decided that I should go the next day and hunt for the part or get a new ball valve dooduh thing.

Woke up at 7.30am, had a shower and then Paul turned off the mains before he went off- there is no other way to disconnect the cistern water supply. So I waited till it was business hours before I venture out on the hunt.

So good news- I got the washer, I bought a better wrench and hopefully by this evening, we would have fix the problem without having to call for plumber.

Only draw back is that the mains is still off......
