I *could* be rich!
Feb. 22nd, 2007 01:11 pmI have just found out that husbands should give their wives a big "ang pow" for CNY! Ang pow is a small red packet that is filled with money that is given to chinese children and unmarried ppl during CNY. We also have to give to our parents too. Giving "ang pows" symbolises blessings and prosperity.
So after almost 8 years of marriage and no ang pows from darling hubby, I reckon my ang pow should be super big this year! So, darling Paul... *big grins*...
Gong Xi Fa Cai, ang pow na lai? *holds out hand expectantly*
When we go back home for CNY, it becomes a game to see what is appropriate to give in an ang pow. We have to make 2 piles- 1 for close family and 1 for outsiders. The family ones have more money in it. The last time we went back, we put in RM$10-RM$20 in each packet. My bro and sis get considerably bigger ones around RM$100 each. The outsiders have between RM$4-rm$6. I hear the rates have gone up! EEEK!
I can tell you, CNY for married couple can send us to bankruptcy!! :D
And anyway, I don't know what is the rate for UK ang pows. Guessing is hard work, too little and ppl will think you are scrooge, too much and you end up with a big hole in pocket!!
