HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!
Feb. 9th, 2005 01:55 pmYes, the year of the Rooster is here! May you have a wonderful, bountiful new year! :) "Kong hei fatt choi!" (Happy Chinese New year in Cantonese) "Gong Xi fa chai" - (mandarin)
"San neen fai lok. Chuk lei hou wan , neen neen yau yee" - Happy Spring time! Wishing you all the luck in the world and may you be blessed every year with overflowing table and prosperity. (the overflowing table means that hope you will never be hungry or want for anything).
Last nite's New Year's eve dinner was great and erm bountiful! This was what I cooked:
Fried wantons, 5 treasured rolls and siu mai
wanton soup
Drunken chicken
Braised pork with hardboiled eggs and soya sauce
Steamed spicy trout
Stir fried brocolli with mushrooms
Plain white rice
Dessert: Pancakes!! :)
I think there is some photos taken with our webcam. Will put it on a webspace and then try to link it here. It was yummy and we have plenty of leftovers. I think I won't have to cook for a couple of days! Which is cool.
Although tonite I should make the "lap mei fan" which is steamed fragrant rice with fried shallots, garlic and festive chinese wind dried meats and spring onions as this is traditional for the 1st day of new year.
